Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Has Been Remastered

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered

If you have an Xbox One or PS4 and you’re in need of yet another Assassin’s Creed game, Ubisoft has you covered. The publisher recently released a remastered version of the 2014 outing of Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. This time the game is available for Xbox One and PS4 gamers with full HD upgrades.

You can pick up a copy of the remastered game for $29.99 for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One home consoles. This includes both the vanilla PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro, along with the vanilla Xbox One, the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X.

The game first came out for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. The game was a final offering to last-gen gamers as Xbox One and PS4 gamers were given the very troubled Assassin’s Creed: Unity that year. As some of you know, Assassin’s Creed: Unity suffered from some major bugs and frame-rate issues, and Ubisoft spent well over six months attempting to fix the game and solve some of the issues that plagued the title.

Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue was somewhat ignored by Ubisoft as far as marketing muscle was concerned. It was most certainly the better game that came out in 2014 between the two Assassin’s Creed titles, but since it was considered “last-gen” it didn’t get much push or promotion when it released.

Well, Ubisoft learned from the error of its ways, especially given that many gamers consider Assassin’s Creed: Rogue and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag to be two of the very best games released in the series. This is why Ubisoft opted to remaster the game for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, giving an all new era of gamers an opportunity to pick up a copy of the game with enhancements made available for both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. The standard versions of the consoles can run the game at native 1080p with full HD output capabilities, while the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro will be able to output the game at an upscaled 4K resolution.

Additionally, PS4 Pro and Xbox One X users will have access to improved draw distance, environment rendering, visual effects, and improved anisotropic filtering for the textures so that they’re clearer and crisper than ever before. Many of the new features are detailed over on the Ubisoft blog.

Players take on the role of Shay Patrick Cormac, a former member of the Brotherhood who eventually joins the Templars after some tragic events take place. Players will travel across the Northern Atlantic during the colonial days of 18th century North America. The remastered version of Assassin’s Creed: Rogue also features the post-launch DLC from the Xbox 360 and PS3 version, including the Armor of Sir Gunn Quest and the Siege of Fort de Sable. Additional weapons, customization items and character outfits for Shay are also included.

Ubisoft also tossed in a special nod to Assassin’s Creed: Origins, by allowing players to acquire Bayek’s original legacy outfit from the game that just released back in October.
