While the celebrity would rather some events of her past not follow her, when it comes to her 2004 hit , she’s all in to go down that road again and sign on for a sequel. Here’s what she told Variety:
If anyone has asked for this more than I have, please tell me. I’ve said it so many times, and so many people have asked me, and I think we’d have so much fun doing it. Tina [Fey] and Lorne [Michaels] are so amazing, and to bring everyone back together would be great. Last time I was in New York, I went up to Lorne, and I was like, ‘Please!’ It’s in their hands.
The idea of a sequel (and yes, we’re ignoring the 2011 TV follow up) sounds fetch, and Lindsay Lohan wants to make it happen this time.
The actress understands that the success of wouldn’t have been the same without Tina Fey as screenwriter and creator Lorne Michaels, who served as producer. Over the years, Lindsay Lohan has been vocal about her interest in reprising her role as Cady Heron, and she’s sending another signal out to the comedy icons.
For the sequel to work, Lindsay Lohan thinks everyone from the original film would need to come back, “unless someone is killed off” but also maintained that type of move just wouldn’t be .
The cast includes Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Lacey Chabert, Lizzy Caplan and Amanda Seyfried to name a few, all of which who are no stranger to starring in movies since the the 2004 cult classic. For McAdams and Seyfried, was the movie that launched their careers — and each had hits in 2018, and , respectively.
While was a career high for Lindsay Lohan before controversy started surrounding the actress, all involved are still primarily remembered for their characters in the high-school set comedy. So why not revisit it?
It would be tons of fun to see the cast reunite for a sequel, maybe for a high school reunion. Audiences could catch up with where the characters are in their 30’s — what does Regina George do these days? Did Karen Smith’s weather woman career take off? There’s so much they could do with it, especially if the masterminds and talented cast came back.
