Crackdown 3 Delay Confirmed With New Release Window

It looks like those rumors about being pushed out of a 2018 launch window were accurate. But fear not, series fans, because the new launch window only barely crosses the 2019 threshold.

Over on Windows Central, Microsoft has provided a statement explaining that , as recent rumors suggested, has been pushed into next year.

Our fans’ response to the signature antics and explosive gameplay of has been incredible. To ensure we deliver the experience they deserve, will be launching in Feb 2019. We look forward to sharing more on this Sunday during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing.

So, while many folks were hoping to see hit the Xbox One this fall, at least February of next year isn’t too far over the horizon. And, as we’ve always said, we’ll take a game that’s “right” rather than “right now” any day of the week.

Still, it’s easy to understand why fans would be getting so antsy at this point. was revealed several years ago and, while in a playable form during last year’s E3 showcase, there hasn’t been much information about the game in the past 12 months. Originally expected to launch in 2017, the game eventually got pushed to the current calendar year. Developer Sumo Digital has remained quiet, though, leading many to wonder if another delay was on the way. Rumors to that effect started circulating this week, and now we know them to be true.

This is especially a bummer because, as far as we know, Microsoft doesn’t have a lot of first party content lined up for the Xbox One in 2018. Both and received lukewarm reviews earlier this year and, other than , is just about the only other big title expected to arrive on Microsoft’s home console later this year.

But, again, we’d rather Sumo take the time they need to get polished to a shine rather than rush it out the door and finish development through patches in the months that follow. It’s also probably a good idea to give the game as much breathing room as possible from the holiday lineup. , and will likely suck all of the air out of that particular room, so a February launch for is probably a good call.

The update goes on to make it clear that additional details will be revealed about during E3, so keep your eyes out for even more information in the coming days. Other than that, what are you hoping to see out of the Microsoft press conference on Sunday? and ? Yeah, we figured you’d say that. Let’s just wait and see!
