Break-ups are typically a private affair, but when you’re married to Chris Pratt during the height of his fame, it’s going to become the source of gossip. That’s what Anna Faris dealt with when she broke up with her star husband a few months ago. While the actress is usually a pretty open person, particularly on her hit podcast , she learned one thing: when it comes to relationships, there are things that are best kept private. Nothing everything warrants such intense, persistent public scrutiny. At least, that’s what Anna Faris thinks. Here’s what she said.
I think it’s a lesson learned a little bit in terms of keeping relationships a little more private, potentially, even though I pride myself on being a pretty open person. But, I don’t know, it’s tough when you’re under the scrutiny.
Anna Faris confessed these open feelings about her recent separation in an interview with Hits 1 in Hollywood on SiriusXM (via E!). While Faris was there to promote her upcoming comedy , the relationship drama inevitably came up anyway. While the comedic actress admits that she still loves Chris Pratt and cherishes their friendship and time spent together, these things are tough. Divorced are also not an exact science — especially when your partner quickly becomes one of the most famous and recognizable people on the planet during the course of your marriage.
We have a great friendship, we really do and we always have. And it’s always tough to envision your future as one thing, but I think there is a lot of love. And in what we do there is so much [unpredictability.]
In the future, Anna Faris isn’t going to discuss her romantic life quite so openly. She is currently dating cinematographer Michael Barrett, who recently shot _Overboard _(which is where the new couple likely met), but Faris hasn’t discussed their relationship either on social media or in many interviews. And it’s unlikely that they’ll tie the knot anytime soon, as Anna Faris admits she needs to rediscover the purpose of marriage first. As the interview progressed, Anna Faris talked about what it means to be independent, and how she learned to value herself over the passing years.
I think it means valuing yourself. I was such an insecure kid that if anybody [was] remotely attracted liked me I was just completely smitten. Like, I can’t believe the popular guy likes me. I think my mom was always trying to reiterate: Value yourself, value yourself. We talk about that on the podcast a lot, about how women tend to not have strong egos as men and don’t really prioritize themselves.
It was only in August when Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced they were separating. There was a great deal of speculation as to why the celebrity couple decided to call it quits, including a pesky rumor that Pratt was sleeping with his co-star Jennifer Lawrence. Those cheating rumors were put to rest by Lawrence herself, in a recent interview on . There were like a number of different reasons why Faris and Pratt called it quits, and it’s clear that Faris wants to keep those reasons private for now. They also share a child together, 5-year-old Jack, which is one of the main reasons why Faris and Pratt remain close, despite this separation. They want to provide Jack with the best relationship they can.
While Anna Faris isn’t going to delve too deeply into her relationship woes, she’ll continue to be open about a variety of other topics, like why getting a boob job was awesome, for instance. Faris can currently be seen on on CBS. Meanwhile, expects to dock into theaters on May 4th.
